César de María nació en Lima, Perú en 1960.  Es uno de los dramaturgos peruanos más destacados de la actualidad.  Ha dedicado más de 35 años al teatro, alternando su pasión teatral con la fotografía y la publicidad.  En 1978 César ganó el Premio Nacional de Obras de Corto Reparto convocado por el TUSM y CELCIT PERU con la obra “La Celda”. César ha recibido premios y menciones en concursos de teatro y narración, entre ellos un accésit en el “Tirso de Molina” (1992) y el primer “Hermanos Machado” (1995).  Empezó como autor y director en el grupo “Homero, teatro de grillos” con Sara Joffré en 1976.  Ha trabajado con diversos grupos como Telba, Kusi Kusi (Grupo de Titeres), Olmo, Quinta Rueda y otros más.

He is now one of the most outstanding Peruvian playwrights of our time. He has received numerous awards and commemorations such as winning second prize for Tirso de Molina (1992) and first prize for Brothers Machado (1995). He has also worked with various groups such as Telba, Kusi Kusi (a puppetry group), Olmo, Quinta Rueda and many others.

 

Journey of the Saint | Performed on September 22th, 2017

SYNOPSIS: In 1796, two theater artists receive the charge to transport the mummified remains of Saint Fortunata across the known world. During the two-year journey from Cádiz, Spain to Moquegua, Perú, an atheist and a Catholic, face great dangers and together they discover the twists and turns of faith, miracles and doubt.
